Some of you who heard my lecture on the Reformation as introduction to our Adult Educational Community Class on John Calvin have asked for copies of the power point slides, so I have attached them to this blog.  For those not there, some of the slides may need more explanation so please forward your questions to me through the “comments.”  We are teaching this class at First Presbyterian Church in commemoration of John Calvin’s 500th birthday.  Amazing!  From his pictures I would never guess him to be a day over 250!  (He was a sickly guy and suffered a lot of hardship).  Since one could go in an almost endless number of directions in teaching on Calvin, we have chosen to focus on his Golden Booklet of the Christian Life which is from book 3.6-10 of his Institutes of the Christian Religion, what he referred to as his “brief” treatise on the Christian faith (1500+ pages).  The study of this little book will be extremely practical and very devotional.  Don’t fret that you will miss the elective this cycle.  All of the electives have been so popular we plan to teach them again.
